Preheat oven to 350° . Grease and line a 9 x 13 cake pan (preferably with straight edges).
Cream together the butter and sugars in the bowl of a stand mixer. Beat together until thick and smooth. Add vanilla and eggs one at a time until combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and 1 cup of caramel chips.
Add this mixture to the creamed butter and sugar on low speed. Transfer to baking dish and spread out evenly with your lightly floured hands. Sprinkle the remainder of the chocolate chips on top.
Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely in the pan. Remove from pan and cut into desired sizes.
