Hi there! Welcome to my little blog. I am Alicia and I’m 21
even though I look like I’m 10 I swear I’m not. I love staying up late and sleeping in. I love brunch and midnight snacks. I have an insatiable sweet tooth and I love to sip on giant cups of orange pekoe tea. I love comfy clothes and super soft blankets, and anything that can be described as cozy. Over a year ago I married my best friend and started this new adventure of marriage. I decided to create this blog to keep track of the recipes we love and of the memories we have made while cooking them.
You may be wondering: “What is the inspiration for the name of your blog?” Well let me tell you. My husband proposed to me in a grove of trees with a pot of tea at the ready, and a book called When I Ask. The photo above and the header for this blog is a photo of the actual set up my husband prepared for me. It was absolutely perfect and truly showed how well my husband knows me. We are back in school now, he is studying Engineering and I am studying Psychology and English. He knows what he wants to do, and I jump from inspiration to inspiration.
This blog is a collection of my own recipes as well as those I have tried by others I love this blog. I’m proud of it and I have a lot of fun running it. My biggest challenge is translating what I do in my kitchen into a post. As I have said before I cook very much by taste. I would call myself a kitchen hippy, and what I mean by that is I don’t stick strictly to recipes. I throw in a pinch of this or a dab of that, and I taste it as I go along. This makes it difficult to accurately record recipes in posts. I don’t track how much of an additional ingredient I added. I think the reason for this is because since I was young I was inspired by Chef Michael Smith. I loved watching “Chef at Home” with my Mom, and what I learnt from Chef Michael Smith is that you don’t need a recipe to make something delicious, trust your own intuition when it comes to creating new dishes. This is why I consider this blog a place an inspiration hot spot instead of a how-to guide. You do not need to follow these recipes to a “t”. I recommend that you let your self be creative and follow your flavour instincts.
I hope that this blog can help inspire you to try something new, or put a different twist on the classic of your kitchen. I hope you find something here that makes your stomach growl and your mouth water. If you ever have a question about a recipe or anything else, feel free to comment or go to the Contact Me page, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
