Soft Pumpkin Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting

It is officially Fall and I could not be more excited. To welcome in the crisp air and falling leaves I made one of my favourite Fall recipes. These soft pumpkin cookies are the best. They are super flavourful and full of warm Fall flavours. They are smothered very generously with cream cheese icing and are absolutely delicious with a cup of tea.The original recipe can be found here. I made these cookies for my mom and my hubby and I. They were a big hit. My dad however doesn’t like pumpkin so he opted out which just meant more cookies for us!

To get into the Fall season my hubby and I perused Pinterest to look into some DIY Fall décor. We plan on rearranging the basement to give us a bit more space and I wanted to decorate it with Fall décor to make it feel more at home. I am really excited to give some of these projects a try and will make posts about them on the blog. As I’ve been married I’ve discovered I am very creative and love the idea of crafts, but my hubby is the best at getting crafts off the ground and helping me when my patience runs out 5 minutes in.

These cookies are great to make for lunches for the week, or for when guests come over. These would also be an amazing addition to the dessert table on Thanksgiving!















Soft Pumpkin Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting

Delicious, easy and soft pumpkin spice cookies with a delicious cream cheese frosting. 

Servings: 24
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
  • 2-3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. While oven is preheating, in a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Whisk together and set aside. Using a stand mixer or an electric hand blender cream together butter and sugar. Once light and fluffy add the egg, vanilla and pumpkin. Mix until well combined. Add in the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Use a cookie scoop and scoop onto a greased baking sheet. Slightly flatten with floured finger tips. Bake for 13-15 minutes until edges are set and slightly golden brown. Remove from oven and transfer to a cooling rack. 

  1. In a bowl cream together butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add the vanilla and slowly add the powdered sugar until desired taste is reached. If the icing is a bit thick you can add some milk to thin out slightly. Once cookies are cooled completely you can ice the cookies. Sprinkle the Icing with cinnamon and enjoy!
