I had some leftover candy melts from when I made these Cookie Dough Easter Eggs, and I decided to use some to make some festive Easter Hot Chocolate. I had a lot of fun with this! I made an Easter Sprinkle rim, blue hot chocolate, white chocolate bunny ears and dollops of whipped cream! My hubby was tired and wanting some coffee, so I turned his into a White Chocolate Mocha (that is why in the first picture the hot chocolate doesn’t look blue). These would be a lot of fun to serve after your Easter dinner or at your Easter brunch, or just for fun with some cookies with your loved ones.
I made the bunny ears out of leftover white chocolate from making these Oreo Easter Eggs. To make the bunny ears I piped the melted white chocolate onto a parchment lined baking sheet in the shapes of bunny ears. I dyed some of the white chocolate with some pink food colouring as can be seen in the second and third photo. I used a toothpick to fill in the ears and shape the ears a bit more precisely.
A yummy, fun and festive version of the classic!
- 1/2-1 cup candy melts (your preferred colour)
- 2 cups of steamed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- pinch of salt
- Easter sprinkles
- Whipped cream (aerosol or homemade)
- 1-2 shots espresso (optional, if want a mocha)
- White Chocolate melted
Melt candy melts in a microwave for 30 second increments. Once melted place in a bowl with a spout/large liquid measuring cup.
Use an espresso machine to steam 2 cups of milk, or alternatively heat milk in a small pot on the stove.
Whisk together milk and melted candy melts in bowl until well combined. Add vanilla and salt.
To prepare your mug: dip the rim of your mug in melted candy melts and then dip in sprinkles (I put sprinkles on a plate to help with dipping).
Fill your mug with hot chocolate, top with whipped cream or foam (if mocha) and drizzle with candy melt and top with bunny ears. To make bunny ears see instructions above.
